We have started to use the Cover Diary, which is working well. However we have spotted an issue.

How do you setup cover for a member of teaching staff who is taking a class out on a day trip, You can't set them as an absence, as this will affect their personnel record.

Therefore how do you mark their lessons as needing cover in the Cover Diary ?

You can avoid this by editing the absence reasons in Tools>Cover>Reasons for Staff Absence.

We have a category defined in there as Trip or Visit, and if you create this and Edit it, you can specify Internal Unavailablity for that reason. If tis box is ticked, the absence does not transfer to personnel, it remains in Cover only.

We have several absence types like this, for things like meetings, language orals, exam invigilation, anything really where the teacher is not absent, but not doing the thing they are timetabled to do.

After posting this I remembered how to do the above post, by setting the filter option to 'All Classroom Staff', finding the member of staff, then

Easy after you have had a cup of tea.
