What's better about Mailspring?

Aren't the days of having email clients going?

For home users certainly. I guess there's always going to be a small niche of people that prefer using them as a front-end to their web-based email.

Personally, for a work/business environment, I don't think so. We use GMail and coming from Outlook, it doesn't feel as good in the browser. I have notifications switched on too, but that seems to be hit and miss as to whether they actually pop up or not.

 

Have been looking into pushing out the GMail settings for Outlook for staff to use, but this could maybe be an easier alternative!

We have switched from Office 365 with installed Outlook to Gmail with the web interface only. Personally I like having an identical interface on all devices. Not had an issue with notifications.

It's multiple mailboxes too, so reception staff for example have several email accounts they need to monitor which is easy to do in Outlook. Distribution lists aren't an option either as it's more difficult to keep a track on whether someone has already replied to an email.

Gsuite has Google Groups for distribution lists.

 

As for delegating accounts it does require multiple tabs being open, but you should get all the notifications.

It's just not as friendly with staff and I can totally relate, they had something, we've took it away and the replacement makes their jobs a bit more difficult. We've tried the groups, separate browsers, separate profiles, Outlook just seems to do the job best for what our staff ask, just need to work out how to deploy it, but this mailspring could be a nice alternative!

We use groups and multiple mailboxes just fine. In fact shared inboxes are easier in Gmail than OWA.
