[Office365] Sharepoint going to '_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx' Activities page?

I don't know when this started happening, but I've had an email today about Sharepoint 'not loading'. This seems to be (in typical fashion) Microsoft deciding how we should be using SharePoint and (in typical Microsoft fashion) getting it completely wrong.

If you login to Office 365 and then click the 'Sharepoint' tile you get sent to https://ourURL.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx which loads an 'activities' page.

If you manually go to https://ourURL.sharepoint.com you still get redirected to our 'proper' sharepoint landing page (as set with the 'Make Homepage' option in the ribbon) and the accompanying links/files/etcetera.

Google-fu is giving me nothing, just many pages referring to a different issue with the same url path telling me to disable Minimal Download Strategy, but that's already disabled for us.

Is there any way to disable this, or simply just to change the URL that the SharePoint tile links to?

Errr... It appears not.

I don't remember! I set G Suite up and the staff have been considerably more enthusiastic about that so I've kinda just stopped supporting 365 to be honest.

I've just checked by logging in as a test user and it still exhibits the same behaviour, https://schoolname.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx.. If you delete the _layouts etc you get the 'proper' page.

I think my makeshift solution at the time was just to have a shortcut in the start menu labelled Sharepoint that went to the proper address and told people to use that.

Sorry I can't be of much more use.
