App-V Algodoo Physics

Hello everyone,

 

I have an unusual issue trying to sequence Algodoo which is a piece of free physics software we are trying to use in school. I can sequence it but when I try adding it to the App-V Management Server so it can be deployed, I am receiving an error message:

 

"The package Algo Physics was not added.

An unexpected error occurred while calling AppX Com API. Error: 0x80080205 - The Appx package's block map is invalid. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80080205)."

 

I have sequence a completely different application using the same sequencing VM (restored to a clean state) and these packages add successfully. So I can only think that it is something within the software (file path, filename that's a reserved word??).

 

The Sequencer version is: App-V 5.1 March 2017 Service running on Windows 7 SP1 x86 (I have also tried my x64 sequencer VM with identical version of the sequencer to no avail)

 

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

You might be right. When I tried to sequence Algodoo I had a similar issue in that I couldn't open the .appv file in Application Virtualization Explorer once it had been created.

 

 

After lots of trial and error I tracked the issue down to the duplicate language files in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Algodoo\data\language" that Algodoo's EXE installer was creating with the exact same filename. Very strange!

 

 

I decided to delete all of the language files with Unicode filenames so that the sequencer couldn't add them to the App-V package and this allowed me to create a working .appv file.

 

 

You might be able to get away with deleting one of each of the duplicate French and Spanish language files however (I didn't test this since I only needed English).

Many thanks indeed for your response. I put the post on the MS Technet website and had exactly the same response. It's very confusing how it's managed to do that. Have now removed the duplicate French and Spanish (the others didn't cause an issue) and the package now adds to the App-V Management successfully.
