rush_tech Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Hi Seeking a bit of advice. We currently have 20 netbooks ASUS EEPCs which operate as stand alone machine purely for word processing in our SEND department that the students take to lessons. These are getting on a bit now falling apart etc. So I been asked to look for a replacement devices. Does anyone have any ideas? obviously price is a factor Thanks
FN-GM Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Chromebooks? Cheap, smaller and lighter than a normal laptop. I think Stone Computers still make Windows Netbooks.

jtotheb Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 The HP Stream/Stream Pro are also rather netbook-ish.
Blue_Cookeh Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 We got some netbooks from Very PC (they're rebadged Intel classmates). Ugly, but they're semi rugged and we haven't had any break in the past couple of years we've had them. We went with 128GB SSDs and 4GB RAM which seems to do the job. They run Windows 10 and kids can be logged in and ready to go in about 2 minutes. We went for those since at the time we had a load of Windows apps they used, but I'll be looking into Chromebooks in a couple of years when they're due for replacement.
