Anyone managed to get Stacking working on HP 1920 Switches?

I am fully aware that the stacking is just for management only but this is jus for home network where I have 3 of these switches.

 

What ever I do I can't seem to get the stacking seeing the other connected switch.

 

I've selected a port on each switch for the stacking as per guides and given a suitable IP address.

Are you sure they are Stackable? I don't recall any of them stacking. Usually there is a stacking cable like J9734A for 2920's. You can do lacp but i don't think they Backplane Stack.

The HPE 1920 series indeed just support “stacking switches for management purpose” (Stack Management) only, and so you will be able to connect various switches together and then elect one specific member as a “Master device” (the Commander switch): the “Master device” will be able to monitor and to configure (centrally) connected “Slave devices” that were added as member of its Management stack.

As you see in my post, I am well aware they are stackable for Management purposes only and cannot at as one physical device for LACP etc.

 

Has anyone managed to get this working??

I did get it working at one stage, but wasn't impressed. It didn't give many benefits and added extra points of failure. Also doesn't save on management IP addresses.

 

If I remember rightly, once you've enabled it, you have to specify an ip address subnet. So, for example, Private Net ID is 192.168.79.0, and Mask is 255.255.255.0. Note the IP address has a 0 at the end for a subnet. You'll want to pick a subnet that's not used for anything else.

 

You need to enable the stack ports after that. As far as I know, these are just the ports you are using to link the switches.

 

I seem to remember that some of this is only done on the master, but it was a while ago, and I can't remember exactly. It also might not build immediately, so maybe give it 10 mins or so to build the stack.
