Win 10 Wireless Authentication NPS Prompting

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have an existing NPS server (2012 r2) set up for authentication of wireless laptops on Windows 7 and these work fine and connect and authenticate.

I've just set up a new Windows 10 image and on selecting the wireless network, I am being prompted for login credentials rather than it automatically connecting.

Any ideas why 10 wants me to enter credentials but 7 automatically connects? It's the same Computer account as when on 7 so still part of all relevant groups etc.

Are you using certificates? Maybe your test machine hasn't requested one from your certificate authority yet?

Or maybe you push out the 802.1x settings via GPO and it hasn't applied it?

Appreciate that this is an old thread but the fix for my Windows 10 clients was to apply the following policy... Computer Configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/System/Internet Communication Management/Internet Communication settings/Turn off Windows Network Connectivity Indicator active tests = Enabled.
