User folders turning read-only

Any ideas, since the summer holidays a lot of users have said when they are trying to save a document that they are editing it is flashing read only. I have gone on to my sever and untick the box for read only but a couple of days later they appear to revert back.

Any suggestions?

Should say its windows 7 machines on a server 2012r2 server
