faza Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Hello All, I am having some issues how do i stop users from going up one level within Word. It goes straight to there home directory but if they select up one level it goes to the server then the domain and then eventually to the network neighbourhood. Any advice would be most appreciated Faza
tmcd35 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 How are you presenting their home directories? We map the users home directory to a spare drive letter, H: (original ). Pushing up here would take them to 'My Computer'.
faza Posted March 20, 2008 Author Posted March 20, 2008 Yea on AD i specify h \\servername\p07aa1$ I have a share on all the hiome directories so within group policy under redirected my documents i type \\\\servername\%username$%
CHR1S Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 If I remember correctly you just set the security on the directory above to deny all with no propagation to sub folders. Or if its top level then its on the drive(s) or DFS they reside on. As a warning this can cause some problems, but the specifics are vauge as its been a while since I have done this myself. Test it out on a specific user first before applying it to all students.
