elliottmarter Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Connecting new HP Laptops to older SMART Boards. The old laptops used to adjust their aspect ratio/resolution so that the image appeared but the new laptops seem to take precedence over the projector for the time being I have told them how to use Win + P to cycle through to second display only, which then makes the projector fill the smart board. But I would like it so that when you connect the VGA the image on the laptop adjusts itself (black bars) so that the image on the projector is full screen. Was sat there for about 20 minutes today trying all kinds of settings and just feeling more and more stupid! Please send help
jthompson Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 On our Win7 Dell laptops with Intel graphics, we use the Intel utility to create a custom resolution and apply that when in clone mode (we usually have to disconnect and then reconnect the external display before that resolution is then available to pick in the Windows screen res picker). The laptops will then automatically switch between resolutions when connecting and disconnecting an external display. Works across all user profiles.
elliottmarter Posted September 22, 2017 Author Posted September 22, 2017 The os for the old laptops is win7 and the new laptops is win10
AJWhite1970 Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Are you using the default win 10 standard vga drivers? I’ve seen that misbehave more than once on projectors until you install the proper manufactures driver for the card instead
