Our school is ind of new to G Suite, fully implemented for both staff and students this September.

We have now synced pictures from sims for students.

Students have access to gmail but works only within domain - they can't send or receive from outside the domain (apart from few exceptions)

But funny thing is, if I type in student email in my private gmail - I can see their profile picture (the emails bouncing back as they should)

So I wonder if anyone know the way to stop showing profile pictures outside domain?

Thanks

Try this:

From the Admin console dashboard, go to Apps and then G Suite and then Google+.

Click Advanced Settings.

In the Organizations section, select the organizational unit for which you want to set the profile discoverability default.

If you don't see an Organizations section, you probably have only one organizational unit in your domain and can therefore skip this step.

Select the top-level organization to enforce the same settings for your entire domain. You can also specify different settings for each organizational unit. If you have a lot of organizations, click the + button to expand your options.

Under Profile discoverability, uncheck ‘Help people outside the organization find user profiles’.

I just tested with one of our accounts and the profile picture shows up in my personal gmail account too.

I have g+ turned off for all students and I have similar restrictions.

It is a bit of a problem for us. We have some students that don't want their picture to be displayed to the public - so will have to change that manually.

Strange how it works on google system
