Bob_the_Goon Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Hello, Just realised that I haven't had DNS scavenging turned on since we started using my new vanilla network. I have one question about this. I have a number of server VMs where they have static IPs set. Will these also be scavenged from DNS? DNS shows that they have a timestamp from within the last week. The IPV4 options on each of the servers have the "Register this connection's addresses in DNS" ticked their network adapter settings. Does this mean that they won't be scavenged. I'd prefer to ask the question now rather than find out when it's too late! By the way, DNS is running two 2012R2 Domain Controllers. The rest of my member servers are also 2012R2. Cheers, Paul
3s-gtech Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 No, the statics won't be scavenged as it works through DHCP leases and stale records. The statics should just be skipped over.
