Does anyone know what the email retention rules were prior to 2013

We have been asked to find all the emails relating to a pupil who started in 2010, but I can only find emails going back to 2013 and wondered what the retention rules would have been prior to 2013.

That's going some if you find emails from 7 years ago! Most schools i know don't bother keeping emails for that long except for financial things!

It should be in a policy somewhere. It might simply be a reference to the IRMS suggested retention schedule.

That's all you can give them, then. You can't disclose what you don't know.

 

Besides, under both DPA and GPDR, you should only be keeping things for as long as they're relevant, so a lot of stuff about a student who has left now would be deleted...
