Who's using this successfully?

 

I'm trying to get the automated CSV sync working as described here

 

Manual sync works fine, but this just doesn't want to play ball - task runs successfully our side with no error codes. SDS dashboard doesn't update. Nothing happens basically.

 

My ticket with MS support has ended up with someone with an edu.uservoice address, and based on what replies I've had so far my confidence in them isn't great.

Oh wow didn't know there was a way to automate it! We have it fully working now and scheduled with ruler to output the csv, but I still manually upload it once a week.

 

If you sign up for SDS and go to the implementation guide they have Microsoft guys contact details there who can help and are very knowledgeable.

 

Also I found this great GitHub repo with loads of nice scripts

- Are there any API’s to upload the CSV file automatically?

There are currently no API’s that would upload CSV files, the API we do have, which is for Powerschool, will pull information from a system into SDS bypassing the need for CSV files. As an alternative there is a way to automate a CSV sync through the SDS Toolkit and Powershell. I've made some progress since posting that and from what I can see it does appear to be syncing using powershell. It's slightly erratic, but the support team I've been in touch with tell me it's still early days and bugs are still being fixed.

Using Salamander, ours seems to work well. Not used it in anger yet but I can see lots of groups and it appears Teams has a team per class.

Finally got our setup perfectly, just had to fix a few Sims data errors with student email addresses.

 

Now got all our students into class groups and have timetables synced with outlook as a sub calendar for each teacher/student.

 

This is one of the best improvements I have made I think, feedback has been very appreciative and teachers are actually using it as a VLE without prompting!

Just a quick question Zag - how did you populate the sub calendars with timetables. I don't think that is done by SDS is it?

I've just been on with SDS and they have said it doesn't sync calendars - how have you done it? Our staff would love that feature

SDS doesn't do calendars on its own. For that - the short answer is get a paid product (Salamander/Ruler full versions).

There is now support from Sims ID for timetables in calendars and write back in onenote to assessment manager marksheets:
