Simcfc73 Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Evening, Trying to find a working solution. I've deployed 4011038 and its causing major issues. I'm trying to work out how to uninstall it remotely. The WSUS uninstall option doesn't seem to work, psexec and WUSA isn't helping either. I think as its a non OS update I cant use WUSA (????) Anyone got a working script? Oh and I tried Powershell too.
Simcfc73 Posted September 14, 2017 Author Posted September 14, 2017 Sorted it if it helps anyone else C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msiexec /package {90160000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE} /uninstall {A36375BB-E79D-411D-BF1E-C7E8120A08A9} /qn /quiet /norestart
DavR Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 For future reference, if you want WSUS to remove immediately, you can use the deadline functionality. If you set it for removal with a deadline in the past, it will see it as overdue and thus start a removal when PC next check in. More info here. I did this with KB4011039 just recently, due to some bug it introduced to Word with tables, and it worked pretty well. Out of interest, what does KB4011038 break?
Simcfc73 Posted September 14, 2017 Author Posted September 14, 2017 Sorry I meant 039, I tried the WSUS method but it didn't work for me. it didn't uninstall and even when I manually uninstalled it the update reinstalled when I checked for updates.
DavR Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Windows Update, and by extension WSUS, is so blumin unpredictable sometimes isn't it!
