2x Smart E70 but one source

We have two Smart E70 that we want to fit in a large training room. The signal will come from one PC via HDMI

 

We are worried about cable length not only with the HDMI but also the USB. WE'll need to split the HDMI signal to the two IWB and also have one USB cable to each IWB for interactivity.

 

 

Has anyone down this if so could you advise on cabling requirements, length issues etc

The limit on USB is 5meters. You might have to look at a active cables.

 

I'm sure it would just pick the screens up as 2 input devices.

 

Try not to use hdmi splitters. Had problems with running the E70 and monitor over USB. (Might of been the cheapness of the splitter)

All our PC's are All in Ones so that won't work :-(

why don't you get a pc what can do the job with vga and hdmi then you can do what you need to do it the boards

Regarding HDMI - if your cable run is less than 5m you're fine with normal cables. Between 5m and 15m use active cables. Over 15m you're going to have to look at conversion equipment, such as HDBaseT.

 

My thoughts - use a decent quality distribution amplifier with decent cabling - I'm guessing the runs will be less than 15m? We use Extron kit so would recommend the DA2 HD 4K but appreciate this might be out of your budget - the StarTech HDMI 4 port splitter might well serve you ok?

I've had big problems with the E70's. These are my tips:

 

1. Don't use VGA cables of any length. To start with they seemed to be fine, but there were times even a 2 metre cable was showing display issues.

 

2. As others have mentioned use HDMI cables with active repeaters. If you look at the E70 manual it states it only supports lengths of 3 metres without a repeater! Also to help signal strength limit any faceplates or extra connections where at all possible.
