Could someone please explain the Smartboard Admin installs please?

I have downloaded the Smartboard Admin installs of the software and the gallery essentials.

 

The software installs fine with out any problems and so does the gallery.

 

But i am unsure about the gallery, it is only a 7mb file. . On first run it appears ot want to connect to the Internet to get the galleries? Is this correct? or is it just looking for updates?

 

Are all the galleries inside that 7mb file? How odes the install work?

 

 

Please help me understand this?

The full size of the gallery should be a few hundred mb. I would guess it is trying to download them...

The gallery msi that I fetched the other day was about 600Mb.

The smartboard admin install, puts the smartboard drivers, notepad and other smart tools on the PC and then runs a seperate (but included) gallery install that installs the gallery manager but not the content.

 

What the gallery manager then does is install the content by downloading it all from the internet.

 

You can avoid every workstation clogging up your bandwidth by doing a server install of the gallery essentials for educators on the server or a shared folder and then updating the path to this for all your workstations (there's a few topics on this in the forums already).

 

From what I remember of doing an MSI GPO install you shouldn't get the gallery downloading anything if you install that route.
