AJWhite1970 Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Hi I've got a teacher/friend who has reset their personal iPad I assume from maintenance mode and now it's going back through the factory settings screen but after the connection to a wifi network it stops with the Apple Activation Lock screen. Said user doesn't know the Apple ID or have the PC itunes was run from as it was a gift from an ex boyfriend and they didn't exactly depart on speaking terms... She is the legal owner of it before you ask!! Is there a way to get round this or is it totally forked and going to have to be thrown away. There is nothing on it that she wants to keep, just wants a complete wipe and rebirth. TIA Andrew

Blue_Cookeh Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 There is a way round this if you have an MDM that supports Activation Lock removal... I don't think a personal device is going to be enrolled in MDM, though I've had this done before for a few devices at a previous job. You can either take it to the Apple Store with proof of purchase (receipt, usually needs the serial number on it), or you can do an online chat/call Apple Care who will ask you to email the details and a scan of the proof of purchase to them, who will then pass it to a specialist team to deal with. Last time I did it, it took about 4 days via the online chat method.
AJWhite1970 Posted September 21, 2017 Author Posted September 21, 2017 Hi Thanks for all the suggestions, in the end she binned it and got another as no chance of a receipt etc as ex is somewhere on the other side of the world and she's not that bothered where...
