6Foot2 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Link: Yellow Pages to stop printing from January 2019 [The Guardian] The Yellow Pages will stop printing from January 2019 after more than five decades, its owner Yell has announced. Yell has taken the decision to fully digitise the business, ending the publication’s 51-year run. The first of the 104 final editions will be distributed in Kingston in January 2018, and the last will be sent out a year later in Brighton, where it was first published in 1966. The company will print 23m copies of the final editions, which Yell hopes will become a souvenir...
AMLinington Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I'm not sure how I feel about this - the Yellow Pages has been a household staple for decades, but it's been getting smaller and smaller in recent years and now when it lands on my doorstep I feel really guilty. It's silly but I kind of feel sorry for it - it rarely even gets taken out of the plastic bag, or if it does, it's so I can put it straight in the recycle bin.
KoolTech Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 About time! Mine came through the door last week and just went straight in the recycle bin. No need for them imo
elsiegee40 Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I kind of agree that it's past its sell by date now. The ones delivered to school got used as monitor stands and I haven't looked at one in years! The same goes for the Thompson directories and the ordinary telephone directory. End of an era, but these directories have served their purpose.

6Foot2 Posted September 6, 2017 Author Posted September 6, 2017 Argos will be next I predict... Your words become reality: Link: 'Digital trial' could spell the end of the Argos catalogue
dry Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Thanks for posting this. Came up on the pub quiz last week. Alas, we still didn't win
FN-GM Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 We haven't had one (or the BT phonebook) through our door in years.
