Hey All

Hope you're all enjoying this groggy summer. Really hoping I can get some advice of those who are in the know.

Basically we run MDT to deploy all our machines images, I decided to create a much needed update to our very old images and installed a clean OS with all the software we use in the school. I created this on a Lenovo AIO machine and captured the image and uploaded it to MDT.

I have imported all the latest drivers for all our machines around the school (Predominantly Dell) I sourced these from Dell's .CAB website which allows you to download all the drivers and easily import them into MDT which all went fine. I then deployed the image to a bunch of machines we have some Dell 790's, 760, 755, 7010 and 9030 AIO. I have ensured I have all the correct drivers for each model and started to deploy the image only to find that our 790's won't install the drivers properly for some reason it works on every other model just fine but the 790's when they're imaged will show that windows is "Installing Devices" while it's doing this the resolution changes and it all looks good until the computers restart and then no drivers are installed??

I'm really confused and have tried as much as I can possibly think of but I'm kind of stuck as to where to turn now!!

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance :)

The first thing I would try is to recreate the image in a VM to see if that resolves the issue.

It's best practice not to use physical hardware for creating images because of bizarre issues like the one you are encountering. :)

What if I was to re-deploy the image on a VM, SYSPrep and re-upload from the VM to MDT would this be essentially the same thing? It's taken weeks to develop the image, get majority of the machines deployed (except for the 790's) and we wanted the image to basically stay exactly the same we wouldn't have the time now to completely re-create the image so I'm hoping I wouldn't have to do that! :(

I forgot to ask above but which method are you using with MDT for installing the drivers (#1, #2 or #3 in the article below)?

Not quite the same, but you could give this a go as a last resort. :)

It's taken weeks to develop the image

Longer-term it would probably be worth adding as many of the manually installed applications as "Applications" in MDT so that the image can easily be recreated in a matter of hours rather than days or weeks.

I'm using Method #2 it used to be under method #1 but it was too disorganised for my liking lol so I changed to 2.

I did think of importing each application into MDT but with things like Adobe Creative Cloud Packager I thought it would be a pain to setup and configure so I went for just making the one image :/

Is there a newer version of the graphics driver on the Intel website that you could try with the OptiPlex 790? If this works you could import this into MDT.

Yeah. Method one isn't good for people with OCD. :)

Adobe is deprecating the Creative Cloud Packager when the new admin console is available later this year so it should be less hassle to add them to MDT in the future.

I'm in the process of deploying it to a VM so I will re-sysprep and upload fingers crossed this will help :)

Oh that's good news about adobe, when that comes out I might look into creating a new image and importing the applications!!
