aidenbran2000 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 First time creating bulk users so not sure if i am doing it right or how to do it. Found SolarWinds but just a bit confused about how to actually get them into the correct OU. Ad looks like this [schoolName].local > School Name > User Accounts > Students > Year of Entry 17 Any ideas what i need to put in to SolarWinds to get them into the Year of Entry 17 OU?
aidenbran2000 Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 Strange no one has replied? Is there a better tool then?
DGardiner Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Strange no one has replied? Is there a better tool then? iirc you have to write the full distinguished name, so based on your example it would be: [schoolName].local > School Name > User Accounts > Students > Year of Entry 17 "OU=Year of Entry 17,OU=Students,OU=User Accounts,OU=School Name,DC=schoolname,DC=local" do some testing though, this is off the top of my head, just to be doubly sure you can open ADSI edit, and select a user in that OU and scroll down to distinguished name and it will give you the path there
jmak Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 I'm only intermittently looking at Edugeek while I'm away, so won't be able to offer in depth help, but I remember getting stuck doing this a few years ago. I've dug out the thread that shows my ignorance and the help I got on here 😀: https://www.edugeek.net/showthread.php?t=152371 You'll notice that I used a combination of the Solarwinds import tool and the wisesoft account bulk management tool (also free). I will learn Powershell one day....
