FLefevre Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Hi all, was hoping for some advice if possible. We have a Ruckus Zone director with 50aps and all working really well. The issue i am struggling with is getting the smoothwall authentication CA certificate to be pushed out automatically on BYOD to non domain windows computers. Any other device including apple gets asked if it wants to accept the certificate and then allows the login, where as any windows computer fails unless we manually install this certificate into the Trusted Root folder of the individual computer. Having spoken to Ruckus support, they say this is not possible so was hoping to get some more ideas from anyone here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Francois
Davit2005 Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Not too sure if it will help but we had a similar issue where we were using decryption at a previous employment. We put the cert on a web server where they could access and then had a link pointing to the file on the login page, users clicked the link and installed. 1
Blue_Cookeh Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Ruckus are correct. The users need to accept the certificate themselves unless a valid public certificate from a major vendor (Comodo/Symantec etc) is usable for whatever you're trying to do. 1
FLefevre Posted August 2, 2017 Author Posted August 2, 2017 Thanks for your feedback guys, i appreciate it. Will investigate the vendor certificates a bit more. If that does not work i might go down the route of offering the certificate on our webserver as suggested by Davit2005
fiza Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 We give instructions on how the users can download the cert themselves. Normally ask them to point their browser at; ipofsmoothwall\getmitm
titch Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Creating a new user byod handbook at the moment. Any chance anyone could share their instructions? Would be useful to see how others are presenting this. Ta
