SSD and BIOS batteries

I've just had a baffling one - or two - has anyone seen the same?

 

Couple of different schools, different brands of laptops. Shortly after I replaced the disk with an SSD (WHAT an improvement!!) the bios battery has needed replacing.

 

Is this spooky coincidence or is there a setting that I need to be looking into??

I think you may have been just unlucky, I have replaced a couple of dozen laptop HDD's with SSD's and so far never had a bios battery go. Like you say, a massive improvement - 5 year old dual core laptops fitted with SSD's now boot faster than the (almost) new i5's with normal HDD's.

I've also replaced quite a few - it just seemed odd that these batteries needed changing so soon after the disks went in.

Could it be the weather? It may be subjective but it feels like more batteries seem fail on a change to hot humid conditions (yes,looking at you Mr. Smoke Alarm peeping at 3am....)

A lot of new laptops headline with the size of disks, but fail to say what a bag of washing they are!!
