I am trying to check that a supplier is Iso certified as they claim to be. Anyone ever done this? I have checked with BSI but the supplier isn't listed with them. I thought there would be a central database of certified suppliers. The supplier concerned isn't on the DfE list sadly. Thanks in advance.

From what I remember when I worked in quality control, many moons ago, you'll need a copy of the certificate to verify it with the certification body that issued it (usually can be done online). ISO don't certify, only create the standards.

You ask for their reference number as provided by the accrediting body.

You check with the accrediting body.

You then check that the accrediting body is themselves accredited by UKAS, the UK Accreditation Service, or the equivalent in the relevant country.
