JATSO Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Hi All, One of my schools now has about 15 Ipads that they have bought from various sources not the Apple Ed store, so my question is how do I manage them seems we can't use School manager because the devices don't come from an Apple re-seller or the Apple Ed store. So does anyone know how its done? Could do with some pointers on this one. We do have a Mac book so wondering if that could manage them? but what to use? Thanks
Joanne Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Download Apple Configurator 2 on the mac and use that. Build a blueprint with the WiFi deets and any MDM profiles. Plug in iPad to mac, prepare and apply blueprint. Also sign up for a VPP account to buy apps with and sign in with that account on Apple Configurator.

NB9457 Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Set them up initially with the Mac using Configurator 2 and have a look into an MDM to remotely manage them and push out APPs Mosyle
Guest MD5T Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 If you are unable to add them into DEP then you're best bet is apple configurator. There is little point adding them into a MDM as students will just remove the profiles rendering them useless

Joanne Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 There is a restriction you can add that prevents the removal of profiles... I remember having to disable it when I was testing something and needed to remove profiles!
aarongulley Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 We currently manage our iPads with Lightspeed MDM and Apple School Manager with Apple caching server. Works very well. Teachers use Apple classroom to manage their set of iPads. 1
aarongulley Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 If you're new to iPads. I would recommend. Apple configurator 2 or look at Meraki if you have under 100 devices. If you have above 100 it's premium (costs)
