Setting up Veeam for Archival Hard Drive Based Backups

So we are looking at upgrading our backup solution to a self-contained HP StorageWorks NAS box running Veeam backing up 6 VMs. What I can't seem to get a clear answer on is how we go about setting up an archival harddrive backup for offsite.

Using Veeam, what would you suggest is the best way to go about maintaining an offsite hard drive based backup archive?

 

Initially, I was looking into mirroring the setup we have in our old Unitrends appliance within the NAS, which essentially breaks out into a second rack-mounted HDD bay connected over SATA. The appliance treats the drives in the break out unit as an archive, runs the task each week and we hot swap them as needed. Initiating the drives would then let you know what data is currently stored on them for restore jobs.

 

However, I can't seem to figure out a hassle free way of setting this up using Veeam and am unclear how restores would then function with the OS reading drive with data already on them.

 

While it sounds a bit clunky the easiest way that comes to mind is external USB drives. Bare in mind I have minimal experience with Veeam and am potentially missing something here, but their rotating drive config looks like it should address this function.

You could use the "backup copy" function built into Veeam - it will make a copy of your primary repository https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/backup_copy.html?ver=95

Ertan, cheers for the reply. My main concern is the method of getting that backup offsite and rotating that repository without losing archive data in a manner that is not a major hassel.
