mikkydoos Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 (edited) Hi all.... Veeam stopped emailing alerts via smtp.office365.com after VM hardware change ?? I changed network card type on its VM. It worked all through the night then stopped mid morning today - probably not the hardware change then. Is anyone else getting this ? Server and auth details are definitely correct. Veeam support cant find anything wrong either. Is it O365 ? Everything else is working with it though. Cheers in advance Edited June 9, 2017 by mikkydoos
bossman Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 @mikkydoos Could it be that the office365 smtp server/s have tagged it as spam? I know this happens in Google with their smtp servers? currently having a similar issue with Veeam myself?
mikkydoos Posted June 9, 2017 Author Posted June 9, 2017 (edited) @bossman ... Don't think so. Its was working fine until about 11.00 this morning. Then just stopped. When I ran a test it gave the error above. I'm stumped. Its gotta be a Veeam fault. For comparison, my Papercut server is sending mail via O365 without error. Edited June 9, 2017 by mikkydoos
bossman Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 @mikkydoos Having issues with Veeam myself, started off great, full backups taking a couple of hours instead of days with BE but then it has gradually started slowing down to virtually a standstill, have an open ticket and uploaded log files. We have a unique setup with our Hyper-V coupled with our Synology cluster and standalone Synology backup unit so I feel this needs tweaking, as for the notifications I have started receiving them again yesterday from the Synology units but not Veeam will look into it further when I have the time, if you find out anything let me know please and vice versa, have a good day
nicholab Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 If you apply all software updates and firmware updates it might improve speed. I got a 2 netgear nas units and I upgraded to the latest firmware and speed has improved so had applying windows update to the cluster. I am using veeam free version.
mikkydoos Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 OK I've solved it. The network adapter was changed from E1000 to vmxnet3 which worked initially. The machine was networking happily but I noticed that the antivirus updates wouldn't update either. No relevant ports were blocked and no firewalling was occurring. I removed the network adapter within the VM, uninstalled VMWare tools, reinstalled everything and bingo! Cheers for the comments guys. Sorted now. 1
