rad Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 I have a suite of iMacs, mainly still on Mountain Lion as we were reluctant to sort it. Apple Config 2 wanted an update of OS, so we went down that route on the server and then did a iMac to ElCapitan but that didnt work with the server. Engineer from XXX company came in, did something to get server working then reimaged an iMac to Sierra and then left as he had done his days work so I was left with a Server that Sibelius didnt work on and an iMac that is not usable by students. I am now in a position to try and sort the Apple mess out, I have the majority of Macs on Mountain Lion and these were imaged by Deploy Studio back in 2013, not had to touch them since then until now. The Sierra iMac I want to roll back to ML so I can at least make it usable, but when I hold the "Alt" key I get these options: I am expecting the padlock and password option like I would get on an older OS. Do I have to do something else or am I screwed? I am about to update a MBPro that is on the same image to see if that works on the network but I want to be able to go backwards but not sure I can. Sorry I have waffled, can I go back an OS?
Willott Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 (edited) You most likely want the DSR option - that's deploystudio and you should be able to reimage with your 2013 image, looks like no password was set on the EFI section when it was imaged to Sierra. Assuming this one is the client and not server El Capitan and above seem to only really play with profile manager setup client side, less and less of the workgroup manager bits work, just done most of our suite to El Capitan, and some of the things we could more readily do through workgroup manager have become a little more difficult... Multiple edits... I'll stop now Edited June 8, 2017 by Willott profile manager
rad Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 Yes this is the client.... not touching the server ever! Thanks for this, will try tomorrow. I have a MBP that is on the image upgrading tonight, will see what breaks tomorrow.
