Nwaynebarwell Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Hello We seem to have an issue with a teachers laptop, she is one of two people in the school who has a windows 10 machine and seems to have an issue with word where every time she opens word it will come up with a message saying "there is not enough memory or disk space to complete this operation", however she has 25GB space free I have looked into this myself and have tried the following reinstalling office - didn't work starting word with /a - worked at first but after i went off word and loaded it in normally it came up with the same error deleted the word data in registry - didn't work replaced the normal.dot file - worked at first but after a reset didn't work she is running windows 10 version of office is 2010 any ideas on how to fix this is greatly appreciated, i am willing to give the things i just listed another try
bald_pig Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Made sure she has the correct permissions to modify the normal.dot file?
Nwaynebarwell Posted June 7, 2017 Author Posted June 7, 2017 Hello she does have the permissions, I done it on her account
bald_pig Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Did you check permissions before and after the restart?
Nwaynebarwell Posted June 7, 2017 Author Posted June 7, 2017 I did not, surely permission haven't got anything to do with as the other teacher with a windows 10 machine would be experiencing the issue as they would have the same permissions
ITGURU Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Copy and paste the data into a new document - worked for us when we used to get this, either saying disk full or out of memory. Was nothing to do with either but copying into a new document then allowed it to save.
ReadTheNetwork Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Have you tried clearing her Microsoft Office profile? Worth a shot, might be something else corrupted in there. I presume it works normally for a different user?
ReadTheNetwork Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Office 2010 32 or 64 bit? Is it the same even for the local admin?
ReadTheNetwork Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 (edited) I'd recommend trying the 32bit even if you're running 64bit OS. There can be some odd issues with 64bit Office products. For example VBA code, Sharepoint, Office extensions and Office controls with no 64 bit alternative Edit: There's not much that's offered in 64 bit over 32bit for Office 2010. https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/Choose-between-the-64-bit-or-32-bit-version-of-Office-2dee7807-8f95-4d0c-b5fe-6c6f49b8d261?ui=en-US&rs=en-GB&ad=GB#32or64Bit=2010 Edited June 7, 2017 by ReadTheNetwork
