tobiasclarity Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Hi all, Long shot here as we are drawing blanks over this side and hoping someone may have some ideas. We are currently running Meraki MR42's and up until 4 weeks ago everything was running great, recently however, we have been getting reports across from across all areas of the campus that the wireless has been unstable to say the least. When we have drilled down on this further, users are experiencing complete dropouts. So for example one of our residents onsite who has a wireless point in their house was happily sitting there watching Netflix in the evening and suddenly everything stopped, when he went to check the wireless network settings on his TV there were no visible SSID's. This stayed like this for 5-10 minutes before everything became visible and the list of available SSID's appeared again and he could then reconnect. We have contacted Meraki who for the most part have been great at helping with any issues however in this instance they want packet captures and logs at the time the issue is occurring. This is understandable, however due to how random and intermittent this is it is virtually impossible for us to obtain this. Any ideas or things to try that i could have missed would be appreciated, this is frustrating to say the least! Cheers all
FWBD Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Have you checked the logs of the devices connected? We had a problem before with conflicting DHCP servers being detected and the logs on the individual devices pointed to that.
tobiasclarity Posted June 5, 2017 Author Posted June 5, 2017 Logs have been checked and the DHCP servers list is restricted so we know what is going where, its so odd mainly because of how random it is when they drop!! cheers anyway
mikkydoos Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Have you a controller for your AP's or are they cloud managed?
tobiasclarity Posted June 5, 2017 Author Posted June 5, 2017 Have you a controller for your AP's or are they cloud managed? Cloud managed, We have the Meraki MX400 on the end of all this
mikkydoos Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Cloud managed, We have the Meraki MX400 on the end of all this Off prem I assume. I'd begin looking at the logs there. Unlikely its an environmental issue or rogue APs.
