We have 9 Linksys SRW2008MP switches dotted around the place to provide POE for some access points. These were put in about 7 years ago when the wireless was installed, way before I started here. I haven't really looked at these before but I have found that although they work I cannot login to the web console of about 5 of them. If I reboot them then I can connect but after a day or so then I can't anymore. I am looking to get them replaced next year but does anybody know what the issue could be?

I am using IE11 in compatibility mode and it works for the other 4.

I should also add that I cannot telnet to them either until I have rebooted them.

We had a similar issue with some old Netgear APs. The web gui would occasionally become unreachable even though the AP was still otherwise functioning. My guess is that as the hardware was wearing out the web server on them was crashing for whatever reason (flaky memory, perhaps?).

It didn't happen as frequently as you're seeing, but I found that a weekly reboot held those problems at bay. I discovered that with the correctly formed wget command (adding "reboot_ap=1" as post data), the APs could be told to reboot via their web interface, so I scripted those commands to run once a week (the web UI would need to be running still for this to work).

Perhaps if there's a similar trick with your Linksys switches (that really depends on how the web interface has been designed), you could automate a nightly reboot and see if that improves their availability.

CPU and memory is reserved for the network switching. The gui admin is a low priority process. Try accessing the switches when your network isn't busy. This could also be a sign you need an upgrade.

Its half term so only a handful of people in. Upgrade is due next year as nothing left in the budget this year.
