Arthur Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Literally just ordered a pile of Windows desktops. Typical! Chromeboxes are like buses! Asus have also announced a brand new model... Asus announces Chromebox 3 at CES, with 8th gen Intel Core chip and USB Type-C ASUS Chromebox 3 is the latest addition to the ASUS Chromebox family and is powered by an 8th Generation Intel Core processor and DDR4-2400 memory for faster, smoother and more energy-efficient performance. It is equipped with a versatile USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port for quick data transfers, dual-band 802.11ac WiFi and Gigabit LAN for faster streaming along with DisplayPort and HDMI connectivity for 4K UHD video playback. ASUS Chromebox 3 will also support Google Play. I wonder what took them so long?
FN-GM Posted January 8, 2018 Author Posted January 8, 2018 Just as an update to this original thread. I decided not to use cloud ready in the end due to the feature set not being consistent with ChromeOS. I purchased some new Dell AIO machines. It was also just as cheap to get SSD and use Windows than it was to faff with cloud ready.
PotNoodleTech Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 I am looking at using this software to turn some older netbooks into chrome books. It doesn't work out mega cheap with the licence and google licence but I think it will be worth it. They're doing a new version which will support the keyboard and mouse built in to these netbooks so will let you know when I get that installed. It looks quite good though! 1
richbrowncardiff Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Im Looking at this too. biggest issue for us is the whole cloud working model as we are all onsite storage still. Downloaded an office 365 cloudready edu version and it flies on our little laptops!
PotNoodleTech Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Supposed to be releasing the new version for me today so I can try it on my netbooks! Chrome to the max!
