HDMI and Sound conflict

So... we're having a new build and have made the call that all the display wiring needs to be HDMI as VGA is being phased out but Windows defaults to sending sound over HDMI and disables the headphone jack for speakers.

 

Does anyone have any ideas of how we can solve. We don't want to constantly have to change defaults.

Typically you'd then be installing sound systems that work from HDMI such as soundbars on your interactive displays rather than separate speakers. Saves time, cabling, effort.

Easiest way would be to configure your system to use the HDMI audio so that any input (PC, laptop, Blu-Ray) will work without having to reset the settings on each individual device.

 

Either use an audio output at your display to go into an external PA system, or use an audio de-embedder such as this HAE 100 4K | Extron to give you a balanced line level output.

Just done this in our new build also. Opted for hdmi but included vga for legacy support. Just ran an extra cable in with the rest I was running in that will go from the audio out of your projector and/or monitor in to your amp

We have gone HDMI only in all our buildings. Don't use VGA anywhere. All sound is delivered by HDMI only.
