Former MotoGP Champion Nicky Hayden is in a Induced Coma

So the day started off bad for me with the news of Chris Cornell; now this:

There seems to have been a number of high profile cycling related incidents lately.

I'd heard that he'd come off a bicycle, but didn't know it was this bad, that's terrible news

Read about this recently - really hoping he pulls through.

Really doesn't sound good, hardly any official update makes me wonder how bad it really is.

The wording on the article changed a little last night, it now reads he has "serious cerebral damage" hoping for the best but it really isn't looking good for him.

I've read somewhere (apologies - can't remember the source), that at the moment he's got a broken pelvis and blood on the brain. They're not able to operate yet, but are hoping for him to recover enough to be able to do so.
