Wallpaper Queries - Making them easily uneatable by admin team?

Hi All,

Had a request where admin team want to easily be able to update wallpaper on devices around the school. At the moment just pointing normal GPO setting to a file on a share accessible by admin team.

The wall paper applied fine first time but when one of the admin team updates the wallpaper (keeping the same name just the image changes) the wall papers on client devices don't get updated. I assume that Windows sees the name is the same and doesn't bother to check it? But is there a better way to do this?!

Also has anyone found a way to be able to change the lock screen or logon screen background at all? Seems there isn't an easy way to do this via GPO at the moment but again been requested...

To speed up logon times, Group Policies are automatically cached on client computers which is why your backgrounds wont change straight away. You'll either need to do a gpupdate /force on them (perhaps via a logon script) or consider changing the Configure Group Policy Caching setting in a Group Policy - this could have a negative impact on your logon times though. Worth a try on a test PC first and see what happens.

One other suggestion is to see if there is a logon script that you could run that would change the wallpaper on your computers - a quick Google for this should give you the answer you're looking for.
