Sims 2097-1739-0100 error

get this error everytime a teacher clicks on class details, only happens on one machine. Have tried re installing Sims, but hasnr made any difference. Have contacted our local Sims support but they have no idea. Any help would be welcome.

I've seen this error only once before and not in SIMS but another .net application. It had to do with a query to a database server returning more information than the client could contain in memory which caused the stream to prematurely close resulting in a null pointer in the variable. Then if the variable was read you'd see this error. How much RAM does the machine have?

Going back to the first post - you said a teacher has this on a specific machine.

 

1. Does it happen to all accounts on this specific machine?

2. Does it happen to that teacher on different machines?

Have tried same teacher on different machine, works ok on them. Tried it on my log in, on same machine, still errors.

machine spec not woefully worse than other machines?

 

If not the solution may be to rebuild the machine (reinstall of OS) - it's a slegehammer to crack a nut, but it's normally much faster that tracking down the one dodgy dll or config issue on a work station.

Funny someone mention memory. I have seen this error which I had originally dismissed as an intermittent fault as I could never replicated the issue myself. However for an unrelated support call the same pc pointed towards bad memory and I never made the connection.

Trying running mem test on the installed or try taking a module out and see if you can replicate the symptoms. Im going to ask the user who reported it tomorrow whether they still experience the symptoms. Good shout to whoever suggested it on previous page. You got a thanks from me
