Exchange 2013 Hybrid Setup - Outlook issue

I have setup the Hybrid config for Exchange 2013 and Office 365 and I can migrate mailboxes fine.

 

However, once migrated they can only access emails via a web brower as Outlook 2013/2016 doesn't want to connect to their mailboxes.

 

I assumed no changes would be needed to the existing outlook config and once connected to our onsite exchange box it would be redirected to the cloud mailbox.....

 

So.... what mailbox/account settings do I need to use for Outlook clients to connect to mailboxes on Office 365?

Have you tried the microsoft connectivity analyzer?, its sounds like you have an issue with autodiscover, which normally points to a DNS issue.

I've not changed any DNS settings - things worked fine until I enabled Hybrid setup (or at least nothing flagged before the change)

 

Do I have to change my DNS to point to the DNS settings O365 recommends.... such as the MX records and autodiscover - autodiscover.outlook.com instead of autodiscover.mydomain.com

I pointed the dns settings in office 365 to the on premises box, so for example we are on LFGL and we have a domain example.com on the on premises server, the existing MX DNS (before office 365) settings for the on-premises server points to mx.atomwide.com, i replicated this on office365, essentially im telling office365 to query my exchange server for that domain, hope that makes sense

Do you have access to the current mx records?, if so you can modify the office 365 settings in the admin centre page, path as follows:

 

Office365 Admin Centre > Setup > Domains

That's what I thought..... have added autodiscover.mydomain.mail.onmicro... and mydomain.mail.onmicrosoft.com and pointed to my IP address of my external IP of my exchange box.....

 

I'll wait run the test again just so DNS has a change to replicate.
