ChromeOS & Papercut with Accounts

Hello,

 

When you print to a Papercut printer when you have Windows we get a pop-up the select what account to charge the printing to.

 

ChromeOS you get an email, log into a web interface and then select your account to print. This is a poor user experience. Is there a better way of doing it please?

Same with mobile devices you need to use the new mobile print solution - this works wonderfully but it's still early days and account selection popup isn't yet supported on said mobile devices.

The current solution is so frustrating and is stopping me from deploying Chromebooks to staff.

Same here as we use shared accounts so no printing is done to personal accounts. I have had so many requests asking if staff can print from Chromebooks and I have said no because of this 'workaround'.

I thought you simply had to set up your printers as Google Cloudprint devices and then you could print to them directly from ChromeOS? I thought we had this working quite nicely on our network, and could even allow kiosk machines to print if we wanted, although it might be something I haven't checked on after the updates to Chrome the other week.

it does work like that unless your users need to allocate printing to shared accounts as the printing mechanism doesn't allow for the account selection popup.
