[ms office - 2016] Moving ownership of a Class Notebook from one user to another

We had long-term cover staff here covering ICT, and our ICT department make heavy use of Class Notebooks in OneDrive as a way for kids to do their work so the staff have access to it. I can see the merits of this, as it means the kids don't have to faff around sharing work with the member of staff. But now that member of staff has left. Her account has been removed from AD and sooner or later (30 days, I think?) Office 365 is going to delete the account.

 

No problem, I figured, just download the notebook, upload it to the new users' OneDrive and re-share it.. Except there's no download option. I can access the users OneDrive as an admin and share the notebook file with the new teacher, but I can't actually give them the file, so this doesn't solve the issue.

These notebooks hold a lot of work, so recreating them isn't really going to go down well.

 

Am I missing something, or is this one of those things that's unfortunately just not possible with the tools Microsoft give you?

I haven't sat down with the teacher in question to do this yet - hoping to do so next week - planning to open it in Outlook 2016 and Export the entire notebook as a .onepkg which can then be opened by anyone. Have you tried this way?

I've tried opining it with OneNote 2016, but not Outlook

I did notice OneNote has an Export option, but if I share the Notebook with my test user, then open it with OneNote (Both Online and locally installed), I don't see the whole notebook. Just one page.

Select Notebook, as above? Seems to do the whole thing for me.

 

My concern would be that the sharing would be affected from a pupil's point of view - it may have to be shared again (tbc!).

Bummer, that didn't work.

Logging into both Office365 and OneNote as her, I can open the notebook and see all of the content (Collaboration space, content library, each pupils' space and their subsequent pages, etc) but now the Export option isn't available

 

Edit: Okay, so it wouldn't let me if I was just on the 'base' file, but if I selected Content Library it allowed me the option of exporting again. I've selected Full Notebook and it's taking a while.. So.. Fingers crossed.

I haven't been successful with the export option, but I found something that's kind of the same thing..

 

If you sign in as the member of staff who has left and open the Notebook with the local install of OneNote, you get everything. All the pages, including collaborated works.

You can then click on the little down-arrow next to the Notebook name (top left), right click on the Notebook, and select Properties.

There's then an option, 'Change Location'. If you select that it opens the users OneDrive as a folder.

From there you can simply select locally attached storage and it copies everything there.

 

So that doesn't give you one whole notebook, but it looks to be giving all the pages in separate parts. I'm not sure if this can be re-uploaded to the new teacher's OneDrive or if it can be imported into a new Notebook.. But it's progress.
