Is it possible to turn off the address book completely for students? The idea is they won't be able to search staff but staff can search them.

I don't really want students in schools seeing staff and students in other schools. I somehow managed to break the contact sharing for some users in G Suite in the early days. I am trying to remember how.

@FN-GM - Have you seen the Google Product Roadmap? Some interesting developments coming soon. Can't post here due to their "Do not share" policy but if you have access to CloudConnectCommunity then you can take a look yourself.

Is there any chance you can post a link please? I can't find it. It will only let registered users see it anyway.

Yes it is!

I can't get it to work. I want to create a directory that contains only staff and students at school 1. I create the new directory applied to an ou, add "all staff" & "alll students". Login as a user in that OU and there is no directory at all.

I haven't tried as I'm off work at the moment. Sometimes G suite changes take time to sync

I left it overnight :-)

I got this working this morning. You need to re-enable Contact Sharing if you have turned it off:

This has come at just the right time for us. Before we were supplying staff with a CSV to import but that was never going to be a long-term solution. We are rolling out Gmail (from Office 365) to our secondary schools this term and this is a major feature that could mean the difference between success and failure of that migration.
