FN-GM Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 Is it possible to turn off the address book completely for students? The idea is they won't be able to search staff but staff can search them.
rogerdnixon Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 No you cannot - the setting is domain wide. Why would you want to do this? The whole idea of G Suite is collaboration and working together.
FN-GM Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 I don't really want students in schools seeing staff and students in other schools. I somehow managed to break the contact sharing for some users in G Suite in the early days. I am trying to remember how.

fiza Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 @FN-GM - Have you seen the Google Product Roadmap? Some interesting developments coming soon. Can't post here due to their "Do not share" policy but if you have access to CloudConnectCommunity then you can take a look yourself. 2

It will only let registered users see it anyway.

I can't find the roadmap either. Only feature ideas. https://www.cloudconnect.goog/community/customers/gsuite/feature-ideas
fiza Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Once you login it's on the first page if you have been given access.
Arthur Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Once you login it's on the first page if you have been given access. Not there for me. Who do you have to contact to request access?
fiza Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Don't know. I've been a member for a while and I was sent an invite with strict do not share instructions.
TwistedHelixis Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 If i created some feature ideas on the old site do I need to re create them on the new site? as I cant find them on the new one.

fiza Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Is this what you meant? - https://gsuiteupdates.googleblog.com/ Yes it is!
FN-GM Posted April 11, 2018 Author Posted April 11, 2018 Yes it is! I can't get it to work. I want to create a directory that contains only staff and students at school 1. I create the new directory applied to an ou, add "all staff" & "alll students". Login as a user in that OU and there is no directory at all.
fiza Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 I haven't tried as I'm off work at the moment. Sometimes G suite changes take time to sync

DavidYoung Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 I got this working this morning. You need to re-enable Contact Sharing if you have turned it off: This has come at just the right time for us. Before we were supplying staff with a CSV to import but that was never going to be a long-term solution. We are rolling out Gmail (from Office 365) to our secondary schools this term and this is a major feature that could mean the difference between success and failure of that migration.

Thats how we have our set as well. How did you have the new directory setup? Have I miss understood something maybe?
DavidYoung Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 How did you have the new directory setup? In our Staff OU I have this set: All the other OUs are set to 'No Users'
enjay Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Does this help? https://gsuiteupdates.googleblog.com/2018/04/group-users-into-multiple-directories.html
