Grommit Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Hi Users delete files from their area… log off and when they log back on again the files have reappeared… any idea why this is happening and how to stop it ?

No it's through My computer and thier home drive have the machines been ranger at any time? They all have Ranger on And what are you running? XP/Vista clients? Windows Server 2003? Michael Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I highly doubt Shadow Copies is causing this behaviour. Shadow Copies simply allows users to manually restore files to previous versions (for whatever reason). My instinct tells me this is something to do with Ranger. Have you contacted their support about this? And by the sounds of things, you are using redirected My Documents. It might be that Ranger brand it something different in their server management/group policies. Can I presume that users can save new data with no problems and move data to a sub directory/folder, again with no problems? Do you have Quotas enabled on your server volumes?
mullet_man Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 We have this problem with our admin network, teachers on laptops with roaming profiles. Sometimes whole folders go missing, most of the time deleted files/folders just reappear. I find making sure the recycle bin is emptied before logging off helps keep the deleted files away.
