Hi,

Sorry for the thread necromancy.

As admins of school facebook pages, do you use your own person account or have you set up a second account in order to manage and maintain it?

It is against Facebooks Community Standards to maintain more than one personal account, however using our own personal accounts doesn't sit very well with me...

What do you do?

We have an account set up in the headteacher's name and then from that account created a school page. All posts etc are done as 'schooname' rather than headteacher.

Hello

I set up a Facebook account using my school register email account which is a managed email address. No personal details on the Facebook profile was added to this account regarding myself, just a blank profile with the necessary information required to set up. I was then able to create various Facebook business pages for the school and I downloaded the Facebook Pages app for iOS on my iPad and it is a great way to manage content via a number of Facebook pages I have created for school use.

Thing is I think something like this isn't really an IT job it's more admin based, I think Twitter pages are a good idea as it's less comment type based etc, you can put out quick messages rather than the facebook type method, ie School trip delayed be home late

You never use your own personal accounts for anything to do with school. That's email and social media.

The world of Joe Bloggs, human being who happens to work at X Academy, must stay entirely separate from the world of Mr J Bloggs (or 'Sir' as the kids at X Academy call him) for Safeguarding reasons and to protect Joe Bloggs' career.

Use a school account with a school email address for everything to do with school.

This is good advice to give to teachers as well. Personal accounts are to be used for personal things, school accounts are to be used for school things. Also what happens when you leave, are you going to hand your personal account over to them? Much better to have a generic "[email protected]" for TwitBook etc.
