Hi Pete, I work for Smoothwall specialising in Visigo and confirm that this is very much Smoothwall's product and not another product that has been rebranded. We have worked with other solutions in the past but decided it would be better to have our own offering.

Hi Pete,

 

Smoothwall worked along side E-Safe for a good while and they were separate entities. Smoothwall HQ then developed their own product which is Visigo. So in short, an actual Smoothwall product. However, you do not need to have Smoothwall in place to run this. If you have Smoothwall in place already then the cost benefit is that there is no extra charge for Visigo Support. You already pay this with the Smoothwall product and so it can be is zero costed.

Does it integrate with SW at all? One of the problems we have currently is that $client_monitoring_software has issues regarding typos (so long as you're threatenng to kill yourself with correct spelling, it'll pick it up....otherwise*.....) and SW has real problems with RS lessons.

 

Slinging SW + something else into a single pane of glass for safeguarding cross-referencing would be handy. As it is currently, we get something from $client_monitoring_software and then check context surrounding that time in SW.

Thanks for your post, just to clear up a few misconceptions about Visigo.

 

Visigo and UTM/SWG are very much separate products, however if you are an SW customer you do have support for free which effectively gives you a discount.

 

Although they work well together, having them separately allows us to reach out to schools not using our filtering as it works well with other systems.

 

Visigo is very much a service and not a software.

 

The Visigo threat library is very advanced and has 55 languages and common spelling mistakes/slang/romanised scripts as well profiling features and clever software that is able to see the words in context. We also have an expert team who put alerts through to the school in real time.
