unixman_again Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 In graphics the printer is controlled by the teacher Mac. We've enabled print sharing on the Mac and I can connect to the CUPS interface using my W10 box. What I can't get to work is add the printer to my W10 box. I can add the printer directly (ie my setup a print queue on my PC for the printer) but I can't use the print queue on the Mac. Any ideas? Ta!
gds64 Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I think that you'll need to use an ipp port if printing via the Mac. Use the add printer wizard to add a network printer - and select "my printer wasn't found" (or words to that effect) In the "select printer by name" dialog, add the path to the printer in the format ipp://:631/printers/ Note that you'll have to manually install the drivers (either Postscript or PCL, depending on the physical printer. 1
unixman_again Posted March 21, 2017 Author Posted March 21, 2017 Thanks! I had to use http://:631/printers/ but it all works. I owe you some rep - it wouldn't let me give you any. 1
