nicholab Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 Do you have safeguarding software on staff machines? If so how did you get round any issues with unions and watching staff? Or how and when have you deployed your safeguard software and how have you passed the task of review to someone else?
mcrompton01 Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 Hi, We have safeguarding software on all machines including staff machines and staff laptops that leave the site. We have never had an issue with the unions, it's in the AUP, monitoring policy and staff are reminded of the fact every term. Reviewing, we have always maintained we are not the team to do that (IT) we do not have training and do not know a specific child issues (in order to join dots). Students are monitored by our safeguarding team and staff are monitored by a deputy headteacher as they have the power to act immediately and would not reply on use informing them etc. Mark
AlanD Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 I don't see any problem - as long as you tell them. They are school devices. They are not intended for personal use - so any personal use is understood not to be private. Staff often don't understand this - and don't understand that we have backups. So it has been possible to recover deleted files and emails which they had not intended to be found (under guidance and instruction from SLT of course). They assumed that because they had been deleted there was no evidence....Students don't understand this either... and are surprised - sometimes even alarmed when you recover deleted material on devices to show them the evidence.
abaxter2 Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 All school owned devices have safeguarding software installed, both staff and students sign the AUP / school policy stating that the system is monitored, and all uses are reminded. We currently use: Securus: Home Impero Pro - soon to be Netsupport DNA My Concern: https://www.myconcern.co.uk/ (for reporting)
