KeyData Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) I'd welcome any thoughts on this SIMS Change Request (CR) 1703-3611476 I have submitted on Capita's website: https://myaccount.capita-cs.co.uk You can search for the CR under the Customer Service menu or use this tinyurl: https://tinyurl.com/zrrtn4f SIMS support for new Data Protection legislation: - Make embargo functionality available to a SIMS school created Assessment template.I have repeated the request below: I want to create a SIMS Marksheet were only one member of staff can view very sensitive/private data to create a vulnerability index. Currently any staff with Assessment rights can view this data and any staff with access to Student Details can view this data via the side panel Assessment link. I want to create an open ended / permanent embargo, similar to Exams Organiser such that just this one member of SLT can view the data and so keep it private. This will allow us to utilise SIMS to identify vulnerable pupils for interventions early and meet our Data Protection obligations. Please see ICO website and note the coming reform which will apply in the United Kingdom from 25 May 2018. https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/data-protection-reform/ Webinar: Data protection for the education sector (28-02-2017) https://ico.org.uk/about-the-ico/news-and-events/events-and-webinars/data-protection-for-the-education-sector-webinar/ Thanks in advance. Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 We've had a Vulnerability Index for a few years now, ours has a simple implementation in assessment manager where by each category (e.g. Young Carer, police record, etc) can have 1 of 3 values (Y = applies in the current academic year, U = applied in previous academic years, or blank if it has never applied). Most schools are happy for all staff to be able to see this level of information and the actual details are stored in confidential documents attached to the pupil's record. I agree that your CR would be a nice feature (and have voted for it) and help a lot with this sort of scenario, but I don't realistically see it being implemented in SIMS 7 (SIMS .net) without a mammoth effort from the SIMS community, but it may well make it's way in to SIMS 8 with enough votes. 1
Banjo Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Why don't you want the staff to see it? If only one member of the SLT need to see this information export a blank marksheet out of AM as Excel and put the values in their on a shared drive just with that member of staff. Any data the school holds on an individual is subject to a Subject Access Request. 1
KeyData Posted March 21, 2017 Author Posted March 21, 2017 Thank you both. @ Banjo, yes I'm currently creating an Excel file from an exported Marksheet. It will be maintenance job to manually add new starters. The member of SLT has requested that this data is not shared with other staff.
