Short version there are a couple of Android/iOS App's that some teachers want to use and some are currently using their personal iPhones with AV cables they purchased themselves to hook them up to the projectors. Rather than buying a bunch of tablets which may well get forgotten about in a few months I thought of maybe setting up Android emulators on the teacher laptops. I haven't used an Android emulator for about 5 years ago when I used to work in mobile development but it looks like there are a lot of simple to use options available now.

I'm looking at the emulators now to see how simple it would be but was curious if anyone else was doing this?

Did you get any response? I've been asked by one of my primary schools to install an Android emulator so that Year 1 can use Scratch Jnr. The teacher wants it by next Thursday afternoon and I am only there for 3 hours on Thursday morning! Andy he's got some little RM notebooks with Intel Atom processors and 2Gb RAM and a few RM One laptops with Core 2 Duo processors. I think he's out of luck.

I remember we used the official emulator from the SDK when we had CS students doing mobile development as part of their coursework. Worked perfectly well - just wrote a few scripts to give them a clean environment each time. I bet you could do something like this if you could get the APKs of the apps - set up a shortcut to run the emulator and load the APK.

I deployed Android Studio. The SDK is quite large so I had a script to copy it. I had to configure GPP files to set the config correctly and add the proxy cert to prevent a lot of errors.
