Exim rewrite rules

I recently 'fixed' my configuration so satellite systems in my domain could send and receive mail correctly. However as a side effect of this my reader machine (a zimbra server) is having it's mail sent out with it's FQDN (eg, [email protected]in). I don't want this to happen. I need mail to go out as user@domain.

 

I am using exim4 on a Ubuntu 6.06LTS machine. I am using the 'debian' split configuration system. My debconf variables are as follows:

I also haved a hubbed_hosts file with the following:

 

vle.carrhill.lancs.sch.uk:goliath.carrhill.lancs.sch.uk
carrhill.lancs.sch.uk:hydra.carrhill.lancs.sch.uk

 

Goliath is one of my satellite systems.

Hi Geoff,

 

I think your issue may be caused by the dc_readhost declaration. I think this should only contain the domain name that you want in the headers of outbound mail. e.g.

 

dc_readhost='carrhill.lancs.sch.uk'

 

Inbound mail to @carhill.lancs.sch.uk should still be delivered to hydra.carhill.lancs.sch.uk as defind in your hubbed_hosts file.

 

From the update-exim4.conf man pages:

dc_readhost

For "smarthost" and "satellite" it is possible to hide the local mailname in the headers of outgoing mail and replace it with this value instead, using rewriting.

 

Apologies if I have got the wrong end of the stick, but I don't use Debian based systems and this is a Debian specific configuration.
