Hi all,

We are currently amending some aspects. Our sciences have changed to double award instead of individual core and additional.

I am currently amending to 9-1, has anyone else done this? and If so how far into the 9-1 have people done?

Should I put

99, 98,97,96 etc... all the way to 91?

can't get anything other than one grade below in the second column, so, 9/9, 9/8, 8/8, 8/7...

we use fine grades, so I have +/- ones as well - but you can't actually achieve that, so my work doesn't take those into account, only the teachers

oooh I wasn't aware of that, my first day back off maternity so trying to get up to speed...what happens if one element of the exam isn't sat? or they do really bad?

As with individual subjects you could of had B in Core and D in Additional?

From what I understand it's not the same as sitting the six papers Core/Additional do, and you are receiving an overall grade - so if you missed one element, or didn't sit a paper, it'd be totaled up, and you'd end up with a 5/5 or something.

won't really know till the students sit it next year and I do their exam entries

what value have you put behind them on the gradeset?

Only thing I'll add, is in my excel files I split the grades using the / my gradeset has (which is a pain because excel sometimes tries to divide the numbers before I can split them), I do that for counts of slots filled, but not for figuring out which grade is the best - it's a real pain when it comes to P8

I've got SISRA doing all the legwork, the only issue I've got is having to split the X/Y before importing, but it's easy enough to do in excel. Apparently SISRA has a double grade ability on it's way.

update - was reading something else and saw this:

The points awarded to double science are averaged, which means for example, that adouble science grade of a grade 6 and a grade 5 would be averaged to two 5.5 points tofill either one or two slots as appropriate (a maximum of 11 points across two slots).

so for P8 calculations it's the average - not the individual scores that count. annoying eh?

Bob,

sounds fine to me - G4S essentially does this, but as I can't get the columns out of there, I've been using excel to essentially do the same thing to try to get the grades to be the highest in the P8 calcs, so that a 5/4 isn't overwritten by a 4 in say French - took me a bit to figure out why my figures weren't matching G4S, but it at least showed me the steps it was taking.
